The Canada Business Unit People Business Partner is the main P&O point of reference for the Canada BU based in Toronto and sits with the local Leadership Team. You will be in charge of guaranteeing the correct and compliant application of employee relations, HR policies and procedures, performance management, recruitment and selection, training and development, LoA management, etc. This position is intended to operate as a Country People Business Partner with high level of autonomy and ownership of the Employee Life Cycle and function as the bridge between the local team and the headquarters in the US. This position has 1 direct report supporting them in day-to-day activities.

  • Partners with managers and employees to resolve employee relations issues; guides decision making process, prepares/helps prepare corrective actions, facilitates involuntary terminations and communications. Understands and applies employment standards requirements / legislation for consistency, compliance, and efficiency within the organization.
  • Provides employee relations support and coaching to Heads of Function, managers, and employees in effective Human Resources practices such as attendance, harassment investigations, etc. Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Conducts exit interviews for leadership and managerial positions
  • Leads investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Advises leadership about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the Company. Counsels leadership and managers on employment issues.
  • Manages all leave of absences as per ESA, LOA’s as per benefit provider
  • Leads the definition of return-to-work plans partnering with the business and H&S
  • Accountable for New Employee Progress reports and annual performance evaluations are completed and guides/coaches leadership when required
  • Acts as a guide in employee coaching sessions
  • Guides managers with the preparation of employee individual development plans and ensures consistent monitoring of those plans
  • Oversees recruitment process for the BU; reviews resumes, conducts interviews and makes recommendations to hire for internal and external candidates
  • Owns the management of HCs and Budget for the Canada BU
  • Accountable for the management of employee Onboarding sessions
  • Accountable to prepare P&O content for annual employee training sessions
  • Accountable for the development, successful rollout, and expected % completion achievement of training plans for the Canada BU
  • Accountable to ensure all organizational announcements and communications are made available timely
  • Monitors organizational culture in support of attaining the company’s goals while promoting employee satisfaction
  • Leads the deployment of the biannual You Survey, communication of results and develops action plans with the support of People Experience
  • In charge of the implementation of action plans developed as a result of You Surveys
  • Participates/Guides/Manages Employee Initiatives and Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives within the Canada BU
  • Researches community services and educates employees
  • Leads in the implementation of Safety and Security initiatives for the Commercial force and local functions with the support of relevant COEs
  • Guides the Canada BU leadership and managers during the annual salary review process for salaried employees in coordination with Professional Family PBPs
  • Guides recognition programs approved by Group/Area
  • 8+ years of increasing experience as a People Business Partner
  • Leadership team presence (Plant, Location, etc) preferred
  • CPG experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related fields required, Master’s Degree a plus
  • CHRL designation preferred

The base compensation range for this position is $109,987- $154,987. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time.

In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other benefits.
