The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end execution of packaging projects and daily activity relevant to new packaging development, value optimization across the packaging value chain, design for recycling, plastic reduction, and quality improvement.
This position will lead packaging industrialization plans for Fannie May and part of Ferrero Rocher across North America, meeting timing, cost, and quality requirements. 
This position reports to the Packaging Manager North America Local Jewels. This position is based in Parsippany, New Jersey. 

•    Evaluate technical and economic feasibility studies during project industrialization phase and develop new proposals to optimize industrial setup pertaining to packaging lines.
•    Contribute to define project objectives (technical solutions, material types) based on North American industrial and co-packing capabilities and on material suppliers’ technology & product portfolio.
•    Optimize existing products for the assigned brand across North America, analyzing possible packaging value chain related improvements to efficiency, complexity, waste, recyclability, and quality improvement.
•    Industrialize packaging material de-risking plans working with alternative vendors and stakeholders across the packaging supply chain.
•    Analyze and validate cost estimations to support project setup from an economic point of view.
•    Define and document packaging specifications for all developments deployed in both industrial and co-packing environments.
•    Partner with the North Canton plant leadership team addressing the Packaging value chain and potential design change interventions.
•    Activate, lead, and report on packaging line trials.
•    Represent the Packaging development (DPU) team in local meetings, including with external partners, to activate programs focused on new solutions (e.g.: materials, technologies, and processes).
•    Ensures through structured governance, information sharing among all necessary stakeholders as it relates to the projects under management.
•    Partners with the leadership team of a major Ferrero industrial plant relevant to the assigned brands, representing the interests, responsibilities, and voice of the Packaging Development team.
•    Explore and develop new packaging technology required to support innovative packaging design through partnerships with leading edge suppliers.
•    Deploy and share best practices within the Packaging Development team across global geographic Areas.

•    The ideal candidate has 4-7 years plus of experience as Packaging Engineer.
•    Bachelor’s Degree is required, M.S. is preferred.
•    Graduate of Industrial Packaging Programs preferred
•    Project management, risk management, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills are considered as mandatory for the role.
•    Very good communication and interpersonal skills. Capacity to influence commercial and industrial stakeholders.
•    Flexibility, adaptability, and aptitude to teamwork.
•    Knowledge of main packaging materials (most importantly rigid and flexible packaging, carton board, and corrugate materials) and relevant packaging industrial technologies.
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
•    Ability to deal with people from all levels & different departments.
•    Strong Presentation and analytical skills. 
•    Ability to work in both a team environment and independently.

The base salary range for this position is $103,148.00 $137,530.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time.
