About the Role:
The role is responsible for coordinating end-to-end logistics activities across inbound, outbound, transportation, returns/refusals, and 3PL/vendor management. This role is crucial for ensuring operational efficiency, service level excellence, and regulatory compliance within a fast-paced FMCG environment. You will be responsible for day-to-day logistics execution, issue resolution, and continuous improvement while supporting cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives to drive performance and cost control.
Main Responsibilities:
- Inbound & Outbound Operations Management: Oversee inbound logistics to ensure timely receipt and GR (Goods Receipt) completion, manage outbound logistics for finished goods to meet daily order fulfillment and dispatch accuracy targets, and maintain weekly trackers for inbound and outbound activities to support planning and visibility.
- Vendor and 3PL Relationship Management: Lead daily coordination with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, conduct Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) to evaluate performance metrics such as DIFOT/OTIF, cost per shipment, and lead times, host weekly operations meetings to align priorities and resolve service issues, and issue and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for delivery failures.
- Transportation & Compliance: Validate Pick-Up reports and ensure accurate transport documentation, monitor transport activities for compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements, escalate service failures and drive corrective/preventive actions, and coordinate urgent deliveries to support commercial and trade activities.
- Returns & POD Management: Investigate product returns, refusals, and damages to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, and ensure accurate and timely Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and archiving.
- Reporting, Invoicing & Cost Control: Prepare and update logistics reports including weekly inbound/outbound performance, monthly freight cost analysis, GI (Goods Issue) accuracy checks, review and escalate freight invoice discrepancies, and support NZ Drawback processes and customs/tax recovery for export shipments.
- Inventory Accuracy & Traceability: Investigate stock variances and assist in inventory reconciliation efforts, support traceability of critical stock movements, and perform TIHI analysis to optimize pallet configurations and load efficiency.
- Cross-Functional & Ad Hoc Support: Collaborate with commercial, planning, and warehouse teams on logistics and transport initiatives, contribute to cross-functional projects focused on digitalization, cost control, and operational improvements, and ensure logistics execution supports speed-to-market and on-shelf availability goals.
Who we are looking for:
- Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain operations within FMCG or a similar high-volume industry.
- Proven experience coordinating 3PL and transport vendors.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, inbound/outbound processes, and transport compliance.
- Experience with ERP software, SAP proficiency is a strong plus.
- Intermediate Excel skills and strong reporting capability.
- Knowledge of transport documentation, POD, GI/GR processes, and customs procedures (particularly duties drawback).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
