About the Role:
For our Ferrero Group, we are currently looking for a Senior Food Safety & Quality Engineering Manager who will become part of our Industrial & Supply Chain Food Safety & Quality Department, based in Alba (Italy).
Thanks to this exciting and challenging opportunity, embed into the Ferrero Engineering Leadership Team, you will be a driver of impactful changes to further develop the Hygienic Design Culture within the Ferrero Group, supporting Ferrero’s strong commitment on Food Safety & Quality.
You will be responsible for providing oversight, support, and advice related to all Ferrero Engineering activities concerning Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) matters for the Ferrero Group. You will ensure that FSQ requirements are integrated into the Ferrero Engineering standards and guidelines, and your role will also involve training and developing both the FSQ teams and the Ferrero Engineering teams on FSQ requirements and Hygienic Design Concepts.
Main Responsibilities:
In this role, you will define the governance throughout the life cycle of projects managed by Ferrero Engineering to ensure FSQ requirements are met. You will support project managers in ensuring FSQ standards are adhered to from design to hand-over for large projects. Additionally, you will assist project engineers in ensuring compliance of new machines with industry guidelines on Hygienic Design and internal FSQ requirements. You will also support factories identifying gaps in Hygienic Design, coaching and training factory teams to facilitate the resolution of these gaps and improvements.
You will formalize FSQ requirements on Hygienic Design for equipment and buildings, updating Ferrero Engineering documents to include these requirements. Maintaining an internal database on international FSQ engineering and Hygienic Design standards will be part of your duties. You will support the formalization of procedures for FSQ requirements for Equipment Suppliers for the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and assist in these tests.
Your responsibilities will include supporting theelaboration of risk assessments and providing final validation of machines, working jointly with Engineering and Industrial functions to determine mitigation activities for identified gaps. You will work with Health & Safety to ensure FSQ/Hygienic Desing Requirements of specific equipment or installation layout do not conflict with H&S requirements.
Raising awareness on the importance of FSQ and Hygienic Design Concepts across the Ferrero Engineering department will be a continuous effort. You will leverage on information provided by the group to train and coach employees and managers in these concepts, conducting training sessions and participating in FSQ non-conformities investigations related to machines and equipment with hygienic design gaps. Your ability to develop and coach factory teams on this matter will be pivotal in this role.
Externally, you will interact with leading equipment suppliers to raise awareness of hygienic design and engineering, developing guidance and solutions. You will also participate in relevant external bodies and working groups related to Hygienic Design to develop Ferrero's expertise.
Who we are looking for:
You will bring an educational background and a Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as Food Process Engineering, Food Safety & Quality, etc.
You have more than 15 years of experience in the Food Industry, with a solid knowledge of food processing technologies, Hygienic Design as well as Food Safety & Quality, demonstrated in global roles in large international FMCG.
Strong technical knowledge, leadership, and communication skills, as well as experience with quality management systems, food safety regulations, and problem-solving are part of your asset.
You are passionate about sharing technical knowledge and coaching cross-functional teams, promoting Hygienic Design Culture, Food Safety & Quality continuous improvement. Beyond being recognised as a subject matter expert, capability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to interact with different hierarchical level will be key to the success of this role.
