About the Role:
At Ferrero, we pride ourselves on creating respected products that resonate with people of all ages across the globe. Imagine being a part of shaping the iconic brands that have been a staple of your life, all while working in a vibrant and dynamic team that values results and champions innovation.
We're on the lookout for eager applicants to participate in our well-regarded internship program at Ferrero. Our approach involves a close partnership with our interns, ensuring their experience is not only enriching but also aligns with the critical skills needed for their professional future. Interns at Ferrero aren't just observers; they're integral team members tasked with meaningful responsibilities that contribute to impactful projects. Beyond gaining invaluable work experience, you'll join a community of interns engaged in learning and growing together.
As the DPU & Packaging Intern, you will spend six months supporting packaging and sustainability initiatives at our Alfreton site. You’ll gain exposure to the full development process, from supplier coordination and technical testing to data analysis linked to regulatory changes such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real projects and build your understanding of Ferrero’s NPD process within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Main Responsibilities:
In the DPU & Packaging Internship, you will take on a variety of responsibilities that are essential to supporting packaging development, regulatory readiness, and project coordination at our Alfreton site. Your role will involve conducting technical packaging tests, assisting with documentation, and liaising with suppliers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of key projects. You will play a core role in supporting Ferrero’s response to the upcoming Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations by analysing packaging data, collecting information from suppliers, and identifying packaging specifications that may require reworking to reduce environmental impact and costs.
A key part of your role will be contributing to the research and analysis of projects, including packaging scrap investigations and monitoring sustainable packaging trends. You will also support the planning and execution of any new projects ideas, helping to track project timelines and ensure smooth cross-functional coordination. As part of the packaging team, you will attend project and team meetings, and have the opportunity to visit suppliers, gaining valuable exposure to the broader packaging and NPD process.
This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in packaging development, regulatory compliance, and sustainability. By the end of the program, you will develop a strong understanding of Ferrero’s New Product Development (NPD) process, how packaging functions in a fast-paced FMCG environment, and how data-led decision-making supports both innovation and business performance. You will also develop key professional and technical skills to support your future career in packaging, R&D, or project management.
Who we are looking for:
As a DPU & Packaging Intern, you will have a strong interest in packaging development, sustainability, and data-driven problem solving. We’re ideally looking for someone who has recently completed or is nearing the completion of a degree-level qualification or studies, though we welcome applications from individuals with equivalent experience or skills in Packaging, Product Development, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
You should bring strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to managing tasks and timelines. An interest in the FMCG sector—particularly in packaging innovation, regulatory compliance, and sustainable materials—will be a strong advantage. Effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability will be essential as you collaborate with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
At Ferrero, we provide a supportive and hands-on internship experience designed to build practical knowledge and enhance your career prospects within packaging, sustainability, and new product development.
