NIR Spectroscopy Analyst Trainee
As a NIR Spectroscopy Analyst Trainee, you will join the global Food Safety & Quality team, a function dedicated to ensuring product safety and quality across all our plants worldwide. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in analytical chemistry and spectroscopic techniques, with a particular focus on Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy applied to food products.
The curricular internship will last six months and will be based in our Alba offices where you will work closely with the Contaminant Laboratory GC. Your role will involve supporting global plants, contributing to the development of analytical methods, and ensuring calibration consistency across approximately 26 spectrometers located in 20 different sites worldwide.
In this position, you will actively support the global team by managing NIR-related activities across multiple plants worldwide. You will handle requests for NIR analyses from various plants, ensuring smooth coordination with international colleagues and accurate documentation.
Your responsibilities will include developing new analytical methods and calibration models for NIR, validating these methods against traditional techniques, and maintaining existing calibrations to reflect changes in products, matrices, or suppliers. You will monitor laboratory performance through audits and control charts, ensuring data consistency and compliance with quality standards.
Additionally, you will provide remote technical support to plants, troubleshoot operational issues, and assist with software maintenance and data synchronization. Your contribution will also extend to strategic projects such as migrating NIR systems to updated Windows versions and creating a centralized database of methods and calibrations.
Finally, you will support training activities for plant users on NIR and OPUS software, sharing best practices and helping to drive continuous improvement across the global network.
You are currently enrolled in a degree program in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (CTF), Food Technology, Food Biotechnology, or a related scientific field, and you are looking for a curricular internship as part of your academic path.
You have a theoretical understanding of spectroscopy, particularly NIR, or a strong interest in learning more about it.
You are highly proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, and you have a good command of English to manage global interactions and documentation effectively.
You bring an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to document processes accurately.
Above all, you are proactive, curious, and thrive in collaborative environments, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills for remote interactions with colleagues worldwide.
If you are ready to take your first step into a global environment and contribute to innovative food safety and quality projects, we would love to hear from you. Apply now and start your journey with us!
