About the Role:
Responsible for the Accounting function in Malaysia; Point of contact for corporate secretary, government authorities (mainly tax authorities), banks, and distributors (for finance matters); Oversees the Malaysia Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) support team.
Main Responsibilities:
STATUTORY COMPLIANCE AND INTERNAL CONTROLS
• Drive the end-to-end external audit process for Malaysia
• Manage relationship with Corporate Secretary and other relevant advisers
• Ensure compliance with internal controls requirements
TAXATION AND INSURANCE
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations; ensure accurate and timely tax filings
• Drive completion of internal tax reporting requirements
• Manage insurance requirements
• Provide ad hoc support on all other Tax and Customs matters
CASH FLOW & CREDIT MANAGEMENT
• Monthly cash flow planning
• Yearly forecast & budgeting of balance sheet and cash flow
• Forge effective partnerships with the business (e.g. Commercial and Supply Chain Teams) and the customer, and work with them in managing credit risk
• Drive the day-to-day credit management process for Malaysia
• Manage relationship with local banks and Singapore Treasury Team
MONTHLY CLOSING
• Oversee the activities performed by the BPO team for Malaysia
• Build strong relationships with teams involved in month-end close in order to effectively drive the closing activities
• Drive Balance Sheet reviews and preparation of monthly schedules
• Review payments and prepare bank reconciliation for Malaysia
SEA / APAC Reporting
• Support reporting requirements for the cluster/region, including but not limited to Cash Flow and Net Working Capital analysis, Stock Committee reporting, and Credit reporting
• Assist in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of SEA accounting operations through participation in BPO performance discussions, review of PTP analyzer, and review/approval of master data changes
• Assist in addressing any compliance-related requirements for SEA including proof of performance reviews
• Support adhoc projects, if any
Who we are looking for:
• Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7 - 10 years of relevant working experience
• Prior audit experience
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and SAP
• Certified Public Accountant preferred
• Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
• Possess good Microsoft Excel skills and people management skills
